What's the point of dating if you're not ready to get married?

I find it ridiculous how teenagers just "date" for a few weeks then break up over stupid things. Its a waste of time and effort as teenagers dont know what they want from a partner.They just go with their feelings not with whats best for them. Im not stereotyping teenagers im a teen myself and i think dating at that age is overrated. What do you think?
